Jasper Canada Day – a Day to Remember!!

The Great Canadian Outdoors

Each year, for the past 20 years, Jasper, Alberta has celebrated Canada Day in fine style.

The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast, hosted by the Mayor and Council of the Municipality who flip pancakes and serve sausages to approximately 1400 visitors and residents.

Later in the morning, a flag raising ceremony is held on the main street and birthday cake is served. 2010 is a special year in that, together with Jasper’s own pipe band with Larry Wynn and the Jasper Community Band, Edmonton Transit Pipes and Drums have agreed to join us and take part in our parade and flag raising ceremony.

Just after lunch, the parade gets underway with bands, mascots, min-Mounties, floats, dancers and clowns.

Afternoon activities may include museum displays, Ukrainian dancers, rock bands, children’s games, historic walks, beer gardens, and just about everything else.

As soon as it gets dark enough, the fireworks begin. No Canada Day should be without fireworks!! And Jasper has the best!
